Shoe imports to Spain increase

Spain s footwear importers association (Adical) has reported that shoe imports into the country increased by 17.6% in 2010 to 322 million pairs with a value of EUR 980 million. The average price per pair, at just over EUR 3, was down by around 0.4%. Only 14% of these shoes were made of leather.

Almost three-quarters, 73.4%, of all imported shoes last year came from China. Vietnam was the source of 7.7% of imported shoes, followed by India with 2.15% and Brazil with 2.13%.

Adical said the increase in volume showed that Spanish retailers and consumers are happy with the value for money that imported footwear represents.
