Unqualified children s shoes announced by CCA

China Consumers Association (CCA) revealed the result of recent test to children s shoe quality on January 5, 2011 on their website.

The result shows that 10 of 19 samplings totally meet the national standards in the test, while 9 of them fail to conform to national standards partly. The quality problems focus on folding, hardness of sole, and product marking.

Executive Vice President of China Leather and Footwear Research Institute Tian Mei said that several new standards of children s shoe will be taken into effect this year for improvement of children s shoes quality; the new standards set higher requirements for the materials and technologies employed in shoe production.

Currently China has 400 million children that account for one fourth of total population and will add 27 million new born babies each year, market is enormous. The experts of National Technical Standard Committee for Footwear said standards for children s shoemaking are lagging behind on current production, children's shoe made according to adult shoe standard that can not meet the demand on comfort and safety, the standard for comfort and safety are drafting now and will fill the lacking in the industry.
