Shoe exports in Q4 2010 show a consecutive decline compared with previous quarter, the trend in other labor intensive sectors is as same as shoe exports.
In the first ten months shoe exports in Guangdong reported a growth of 24.4% that is less than average growth rate in Guangdong province. EU and America account for 59.5% of Guangdong total footwear export that has dropped 1.2% in the first ten months.
Labor and production costs increasing, appreciation of RMB, trade barriers and uprising of rivals in emerging countries are blamed for hardship of shoemaking sector in Guangdong province.
Liu Huilong, the executive vice president of Guangdong Footwear Association pointed out on the press conference for shoe trade fair that the internal markets in rural areas have a huge potential to expand, and urged the shoemakers to attach an importance to them.
