10% rising for wages in Quanzhou shoemaking sector

A survey to one thousand enterprises made by Quanzhou Human Resources and Social Security Bureau shows that total demand of labor in the city amounts to 150,000 people, which is similar to the numbers in the earlier year.

Now average salary in leather sector is 2000 or 2300 yuan, which is higher than standard set by municipal government for certain industries. Shoemaking is a labor intensive sector that heavily depends on the migrant workers, most of their workers left for home during the spring festival and some of them fail to return their original work, and the shoemaking companies have to find new workers to fill these vacant positions.
Under such circumstance shoemakers in Quanzhou city take measures to improve productivities by employing hi-tech machinery and out source on labor cost processing. A shoemaker in Jinjiang city said as the new invented shoemaking machinery adopted we cut 20% of employment in our sports shoe production, as well as save 30% to 40% of energy consumption.
