Global trade of raw leather has risen from US $14.98 billion in 2000 to around US $20.63 billion in 2010, up 37.72 percent in the period.
It is anticipated that this may rise to $32 billion by 2020.
Comparatively, worldwide trade in leather and leather products (including footwear) has augmented by around 77 percent in the decade between 2000 and 2010.
The share of the raw leather category segment in global trade of leather and leather products has fallen steeply from 19.37 percent in 2000 to 15.05 percent 2010.
Combined worldwide sales in raw leather and leather goods are projected to touch $245 billion by 2020 from the current level of $137 billion.
