The official of Fair Trading division in Ministry of Commerce made a remark on current working meeting called for responding to aftermaths of the trade disputes, saying with long-term unremitting efforts made by all related department the EU anti-dumping duty on Chinese leather shoes is expected to be end at March 31, 2011.
Chinese shoes have experienced many trade barriers in overseas market, particularly in EU, for instance EU had been imposed quota restriction on Chinese leather for ten years from 1995 to 2005, and then launched anti-dumping duty up to now, fortunately it will be ended by this March, said the official.
CLIA footwear office director Wei Yafei said yesterday although EU is possible to end the extension of anti-dumping duty, other restrictions may be applied in the future, she warned Chinese shoemakers should strictly follow the regulations and rules on exports to EU, regulate business activities for creating a fair trade environment.
Chinese footwear to EU may surge in export after this March, but should be restricted to avoid the new trade disputes arising. Wei said that Chinese shoes couldn t win international market with low price, and can only do it by diversification of market and optimizing the product structure, and protection of intellectual property rights, the exports in low price or launch the price war could damage the industry health development. Wei also urged shoemakers to improve the footwear added value by expansion of internal market. CITATION http://www.chinaleather.org/eng/show.php?itemid=5970
