Pakistan leather footwear exports up 6%

Pakistan s exports of finished leather increased by 44.3% during the first eight months of current fiscal year as compared to the corresponding period of 2010, according to the Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) data. Exports of leather garments went up by 18.5% and leather gloves by 18.6%.

Among footwear products, exports of leather footwear increased by 6% whereas canvas footwear and other footwear varieties witnessed negative growth of 30.5% and 13% respectively.

Exports of finished leather stood at $273 million in July 2010-February 2011 against the exports of $189.2 million for the same period last year.

Similarly, exports of leather garments and leather gloves were recorded at $285.3 million and $74.8 million against exports of $240.7 million and $63.1 million respectively.
