Despite suffering uncommonly low temperatures, heavy rains, water logging and other natural disasters, Heilongjiang province has had another bumper harvest this year. Total crop production topped 50 billion kg, an increase of 6.5 billion kg over the previous year.
Heilongjiang province is one of China's key agricultural and grain producing provinces. In recent years, the provincial government have made grain production a key economic and social development priority. Thanks to these policies, grain production has continued to set ever-higher production goals. This year marks the province's 7th consecutive bumper harvest, and it also marks the 3rd year in a row that production grown by over 5 billion kg. Heilongjiang is only the second province to surpass the 50 billion kg crop production mark.
