China's 1st laser cinema opens in Beijing
China's first laser movie theater opened on 7 July in Beijing. The cinema uses the laser projection system jointly developed by Phoebus Vision Co.and the CAS Academy of Opto-electronics. According to experts, laser projection systems offer broader color range and use less power than traditional systems. In addition, the bulbs -- which cost several thousand dollars each -- can last 10 years instead of six months.
