'Human Spiderman' Jem Stansfield Climbs Walls With Vacuum Cleaners
Jem Stansfield has been nicknamed the 'Human Spiderman' for his uncanny ability to climb walls using only the suction from supermarket vacuum cleaners.
The British inventor recently wowed crowds at Hove Park School in East Sussex when he scaled the side of a school wall using vacuum cleaner suctions as 'giant suckerpads.'
'I've always been very keen on pushing household appliances to their limits and the vacuum cleaner is actually one of the most powerful electrical machines you'll ever touch,' the 'Human Spiderman' explains. 'At 1500 watts, I dont think that kind of power should be restricted to removing crumbs from carpets. My hunch is these things produce enough suction to turn a man into a spiderman.'
Indeed they can. At the school yard demonstration in England earlier this week, Stansfield climbed 30 feet up the wall--although in the past, he's gone as high as 120 feet up a wall using his 'Spiderman gloves.'
See the videos below to see how the 'Human Spiderman' makes his spidey-suction-gear, and to see his gravity-defying climbing feats in action. Check out the Daily Mail for more photos of his most recent demonstration.
