China State Grid's February Wind Turbine Accident Cuts Link to Power Grid

An accident caused by short circuit at China State Grid Corp. s unit in the nation s northwest cut links between 598 wind power turbines and the power grid, the State Electricity Regulatory Commission said in a statement on its website today.

The accident, which occurred Feb. 24, had the biggest impact on the power grid of any wind power accidents in China, the statement said. The regulator also pointed out a number of safety issues related to wind power generation, including manufacturing and management of wind plants.
