China s environmental tax plan is awaiting approval by the State Council after being passed by the Ministry of Finance, State Administration of Taxation, and the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Economic Information Daily reported today, citing unidentified people familiar with the situation.
The tax will first be imposed on sulfur dioxide and sewage water, the report said, citing Ma Zhong, head of the Renmin University of China s school of environment and natural resources.
