China's National Energy Administration and the Australian Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism recently signed an agreement in Beijing to conduct a feasibility study of a program that will reduce carbon emissions, and the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to cooperation in this area.
It is reported that in order to consolidate the close working relationship China and Australia already have in the field of low-emission coal technology, the two sides agreed to conduct a feasibility study on a project to capture and store carbon dioxide from the combustion of an industrial-scale coal-fired power plant in China.
This time, the agreement confirmed that the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) and the Clean Energy Technology Research Institute of China Huaneng Group will draft a preliminary work program for this feasibility study and strive to reach a consensus.
