China Coal Energy's coal sales up 27.7% in Jan

China Coal Energy Co Ltd<601898><1898>, the country's second-largest coal miner by revenue, announced yesterday that its coal sales jumped 27.7% year on year to 9.09 million metric tons in January this year.

The coal producer said in a statement filed with the Shanghai Stock Exchange that its output of commercial coal climbed 5.6% year on year to 8.82 million metric tons last month.

The company's coke output plunged 31.8% year on year to 150,000 metric tons in January.

The company's coal sales for 2010 surged 21.1% year on year to 118 million metric tons.

In 2010, the company produced 123 million metric tons of coal, 22.3% more than in the previous year. Coke output amounted to 2.06 million metric tons, 3.7% less than in 2009, according to an earlier report from China Knowledge.
