China imported 6.76 million metric tons of coal in February this year, 48% less than in the same month of last year, according to the latest statistics released by the General Customs Administration, sources reported.
The figure was 59.25% less than 9.8 million metric tons imported in January.
Last month, China exported 1.76 million metric tons of coal, surging 8.6% compared with the corresponding period of last year, and the country's net coal imports were 5 million metric tons.
In addition, China only imported 35 metric tons of coke coal last month, according to the report.
The country's coal output was 247.5 million metric tons, jumping 20% from the same period of last year, according to an earlier report from China Knowledge.
