China's biggest coal mine prospecting project begins

China's largest coal mine prospecting project has begun in Santang Lake of Hami, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, according to the regional coal field prospecting authority.

The project involves a prospecting area of 4,700 square meters, so far the largest among similar projects in China. The authority said 375 holes will be drilled.0 General prospecting work will be completed within this year.

Santang Lake Coal Field is estimated to have coal deposits of 55 billion tonnes.
