State Grid Corp of China, the country largest power grid network operator has deployed 1.2 trillion yuan on domestic power grid upgrades over the past five years, Interfax-China reported.

SGCC said the 1.2 trillion yuan is larger than the combined domestic power grid network investments from 1949 to 2005.

SGCC, which operates 88% of China's power grid network, sold 2.7 trillion kilowatt hours of electricity and achieved sales revenue of 1.5 trillion yuan in 2010.

The company reported a profit of 45 billion yuan in the same year and hopes to boost that figure to 70 billion yuan by the end of 2015.
