The testing of the nightscape illuminating system for Guangzhou's new television tower will be completed by the end of February. The lighting system will become operational in March and the tower is expected to open to the public on June 1. The tower will feature a "space shot" which has the world's highest "starting point", a Ferris wheel, a 4D cinema, and the world's longest "ladder on the clouds". The tower is expected to become Guangzhou's most eye-catching landmark.
After the testing of its nightscape lighting system is completed by the end of February, the tower will put on a fashionable "evening dress" for the Lunar New Year and the Lantern Festival. Yet, how the tower will be illuminated at night after March will be decided only after the proposal has been evaluated.
In its existing computer-controlled nightscape illumination scheme, the 1,080 LED lamps on the tower will come on at the same time and then display a dazzling array of patterns and words; it can also perform a digital countdown. The antenna pole of the tower will show a different color on each day of the week, telling local people what day it is today.
Construction of the South Plaza, the second phase of the new TV tower, has also kicked off and is scheduled for completion by August 15. A 66,000-square-meter commercial space will be added to the basement of the South Plaza of the new TV tower, designed to be an "entertainment plaza". The first floor the plaza will be devoted to public service, and the second and third floors will serve as a business and recreation center and a massive car park, respectively. |
