The LCD Panel Industrial Technology Innovation Alliance of Guangzhou Development District was officially formed on December 29. The formation of the alliance was another major development in Guangzhou Development District following its launch of a Generation-8.5 LG LCD panel project. It also represents another step of Guangzhou Development District to carry out the Plan on the Reform and Development of the Pearl River Delta Region and to develop new strategic industries identified by the state.
The 30 members of the alliance in Guangzhou, Dongguan and Shenzhen will take advantage of Korea-headquartered LGD's status as an international leader to consolidate innovation resources and to build Guangzhou Development District into a global R&D and manufacturing center for new LCD panels. The center will have a comprehensive range of upstream, midstream and downstream enterprises and play a significant role in boosting the LCD manufacturing standard and innovativeness of Guangzhou and even Guangdong.
