41 Shopping Centers to Open by Year's End

Taikoo Hui of Hong Kong, Aeon of Japan, Haiyin Group, Guangzhou Friendship, Guangzhou Department Store and many other investors and international firms will open 41 massive shopping centers by year's end to tap business opportunities presented by the Guangzhou Asian Games, announced officials at the Guangzhou Economic Work Conference on Industry and Commerce on January 25.
According to Zhao Xiaosui, Director of Guangzhou Economic and Trade Committee, the city has drawn up a scheme to develop Guangzhou International Business Center in line with the positioning of the city's new functional zones. The city has also prepared proposals to build clusters of high-end commercial and trade establishments at Zhujiang New Town, Baiyun New Town, Panyu New Town,and Bai'etan. Dalian Wanda, Wal-Mart, and Causeway Bay plan to open outlets in these areas. Moreover, an online supermarket will be launched to grow chain operations and logistics distribution. About 10,000 enterprises will establish a presence at the "Thriving Stores" section on Taobao.com to provide better services for shoppers during the Asian Games.
