China Travel International Investment Hong Kong on Apr. 6 set up a subsidiary for business in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province and opened 15 travel agencies.
In addition, the Hong Kong-listed firm aims to own 40 travel agencies in the city by the end of this year and to have an extensive travel service network in Guangxi Zhuang Nationality Autonomous Region, Hunan Province and Fujian Province.
Chairman Zhang Xuewu said that the enterprise this year will receive between 20 and 30 hotel assets from State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission to sharpen its competitive edge.
In the first half of last year, the company reaped HK$1.89 billion in revenue, whereas it earned HK$2.02 billion in the same period of the previous year. Profit for the period amounted to HK$36.78 million, which was much less than HK$701.65 million it reaped in the first half of 2008.
