Sources said recently that Guangzhou Toyota will officially launch its Camry Hybrid on April 12, which has been showcased at the 2009 Shanghai auto show. The car will also be displayed at the 2010 Beijing auto show later this month and be put into market in May. The Camry Hybrid, equipped with G-book, is surely a charming model for people to expect, and is estimated to be sold at around 300,000 yuan ($43,900).
The Camry Hybrid, using a new generation of Toyota's hybrid system (Toyota Hybrid System-II), combined the advantages of both the electric motor and engine, not only has the advanced dynamic performance of the mid-and high-end vehicles, but has also achieved considerable low fuel consumption and low emissions. The model has reduced more than 30% of the CO2 emissions compared to gasoline sedans with same displacement. Emissions of the CO (carbon monoxide), NOx (nitrogen oxides) and NMCH (NMHC) have also been significantly reduced.
The car's power sources come from a 2.4-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor. Of which the 2.4-liter gasoline engine provides a maximum power of 147hp and the electric motor provides 40hp, totally 187hp. Moreover, the Camry Hybrid, using CVT (the Continuously Variable Transmission), only consumes around 6 liters of fuel per 100km on urban roads.
The domestic production of the Guangzhou Toyota is not only a spotlight of the company's 2010 business plan, but also a great step in expanding the company's new-energy market line-up.
