National Education Exchange Opens

Seventy-one school heads and teachers have started their visit to the Guangzhou Sun Yat Sen University for the five-day Hong Kong Teachers Mainland Exchange Programme.
The scheme, organised by the Education Bureau, will enhance their understanding of national education promulgated in Mainland schools. It also provides them with an opportunity to have professional exchanges with Mainland teachers.
They will visit Shenzhen Daichan Bay Port Investment & Development Company and Guangzhou Toyota Motors to learn about the development of the logistics and automotive industries there. They will also call on the standing committee of the Guangzhou National People's Congress and visit Guangzhou No.7 Middle School.
Cultural tour
They will tour the Chen clan temple and the Museum of the Western Han Dynasty Mausoleum of the Nanyue King to learn about the common origins of the history and culture shared by Hong Kong and Guangzhou.
The programme also invites university lecturers to speak on topics like aerospace, and economic and national development.
After concluding their trip they will submit reports on their experiences and ideas on promoting national education in their schools.
The programme, which provides 300 training places for teachers, is scheduled for April and December every year.
