Cantonese Diners Spend 49 on Average

Cantonese spent an average of 49 yuan on dining-outs during the first quarter of 2010, 25.6% higher than the same period of last year. An online survey from a local famous website "Dianping" for the consumption guideline and review revealed this number on April 14.
14 million respondents are involved in this survey on over 700 thousand shops and restaurants in Guangzhou. The poll also shows that consumption rolled up especially on Spring Festival's Eve and the Valentine's Day.
Banquet consumption also rose in other five first-tier cities of China with Shanghai average of RMB 72, running the top of the list, Beijing and Shenzhen with RMB 66 on the second, Hangzhou and Nanjing followed with RMB 60 and 47.
Expert analyzed that recovering economy booms consumers' confidence and made a jump during this early period of 2010.
