A survey of university graduates from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen found that those from Guangzhou earn the lowest salaries, according to a report from Southern Metropolis Daily. The 2010 China White Paper on Salaries released April 27 shows that the average monthly salary of Guangzhou university graduates is 2,161 yuan, 500 yuan less than those from Shanghai.
The white paper was based on salary investigations of Adfaith Company's commercial data center on more than 1,000 enterprises.
Of the 1,000 enterprises surveyed, 40 percent plan to increase campus recruitment this year, 40 percent will keep it unchanged and 20 percent will decrease campus recruitment. The financial industry has massively increased campus recruitment, medical industries basically remain unchanged and only the energy and chemical industries have decreased recruitment on campuses.
A survey on 2010 graduates' starting salaries shows that this year the average starting salaries of junior college graduates, university graduates, post-graduates and doctoral graduates are 1,644 yuan, 2,116 yuan, 3,393 yuan and 5,399 yuan, respectively. Compared with previous years, the gap between the different levels of graduates has become wider.
