A new exhibition center for high-end home decorations will soon be built in Pazhou after it was announced Tuesday (May 18th) at a local meeting on development of the exhibition industry. The new project will be launched by the end of 2011.
In 2009, revenue from Guangzhou's exhibition industry grew by 39% year-on-year although amidst the economic crisis. The surface dedicated to exhibitions reached 6.27 million sq. meters last year, up 54.9% from 2008; and the number of attendees reached 7.54 million, up 31.6% year-on-year. The municipal government vowed to promote the exhibition industry so as to become a "pillar industries" within 5 to 10 years.
