Minister is happily holding a huge salmon fish to show the great export achievement to reporters.
90% of salmon consumed in China comes from Norway.
The Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Trond Giske arrived in Guangzhou on May 26 to promote salmon exports from Norway to China which have recently hit a record high. He also took the opportunity to visit a company named Huawei in Shenzhen which is collaborating with a norwegian company in building the world s first 4G network and Yuexin Dockyards in Guangzhou which are building a ship designed in Norway.
The Minister told our reporter, This is the fifth time I visit China, and the second time in just six months. The main purpose this time is to continue negotiating free trade agreements between China and Norway. This will be the first free trade agreement between China and a European country.
The Minister held a press conference over lunch where all the journalists were able to taste fresh norwegian salmon, a way to celebrate the great achievements made by his country's fishing industry. 90% of salmon consumed in China comes from Norway and last year our salmon exports increased 36% in volume and by 57% in value.
