Guangdong's Footwear Export Volume for April Surges 25%

Guangzhou Custom on Tuesday released ststistics that Guangdong Province exported 360 million pairs of shoes in April, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 25% a month-on-month growth of 35%.
The average export price was US$2.3 per pair, down 6% year on year.
In the first four months of this year, the province's footwear export volume reached 1.32 billion pairs, up 19% year on year, and the export value swelled 10% year on year to US$3.43 billion. The average price was US$2.6 per pair, 7% less than in the corresponding period of 2009.
Guangdong Province's export volume of mid-to-low end plastic shoes accounted for 68% of the total shoe exports, reaching 900 million pairs, an amount 22% more than in the same period of last year.
During the period from January to April, the province exported 340 million pairs of shoes to the U.S., 270 million pairs to the European Union and 140 million pairs to the countries in Latin America.
China (Guangzhou) International Footwear Expo 2010 will be held in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province, in the period from Jun. 1 to Jun. 3, sources reported.
