The national wushu squad hope to defend the gold medal won at the Doha Asian Games in 2006 when competing in the Asian Games in Guangzhou, China from Nov 13-21.
National wushu coach Yong Thong Fong said the association expects on of the seven wushu exponents selected for the Guangzhou Asian Games to deliver the gold medal.
"Any one of the seven exponents selected have the potential to win medals. However, we will only announce their names after the SUKMA in Melaka," he told Bernama here Tuesday.
He added that the seven identified for the Asian Games were released to represent their respective states in the SUKMA.
In Doha, Chai Fong Ying clinched the gold medal from Taijiquan (women's sword).
Yong said after the SUKMA, national wushu exponents would compete in the Wushu International Championships in Shanghai next month and the Beijing Combat Games in August.
