Guangzhou to Pilot Branding Strategy

Write: Barlow [2011-05-20]

Guangzhou has just added another item to its list of credentials the designation as a pilot city for the national branding strategy by the State Administration of Industry and Commerce. Two other Guangdong cities Shenzhen and Foshan have also been so designated.
Nationwide, 53 cities and 41 enterprises have been selected to pilot the national trading strategy.
As of the end of May, Guangzhou ranked first in Guangdong and among the top in China in terms of the numbers of trademark applications received and granted, trademark infractions prosecuted, and trademarks recognized as "Famous Brands of Guangdong".

Pilot cities and enterprises for the national branding strategy will be entitled to a series of preferential and supportive policies. The State will give the pilot cities assistance in "enriching farmers by brand building", promoting the brands of agricultural products, and consolidating the rural resources of geographic marks, in order to extend the industrial chain and increasing farmers' income.

The State will also facilitate the pilot cities to register and protect trademarks relating to local culture, folklore and natural landscape, and assist export-oriented enterprises in these cities in registering their trademarks abroad and preventing preemptive registration by unauthorized parties.
