The "Flower City" Guangzhou witnessed 100 days to go for the November 12- 27 Asian Games as Wang Yang, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Party Secretary of the Guangdong CPC Provincial Committee, officially announced the opening of the televised 100-day Countdown Ceremony here in Tianhe Sports Gymnasium on August 4.
The evening gala entitled "Dreaming about This Moment" featured four chapters: "The City of Flower in the New Millennium", "The New Guangzhou", "The Asian Games are Coming", and "Singing under the Blue Sky".
Starting with a dragon boat and Wushu performance "Soaring Aspirations", the curtain raised for the 100-mimute event beginning at 7:30 pm.
A major televised event from Tianhe Gymnasium to mark the 100-day Countdown Ceremony entitled "Dream About This Moment" features four parts and lasts for 100 minutes beginning at 7:30pm.
" Reunion ", "Sunshine again" and "Glorious Presence" were unveiled as the three theme song candidates and performed in the evening gala.
The organiser unearthed Guangzhou's colourful history, proud traditions, unique culture, prosperous city development and endeavour to prepare the 16th edition of the Asian Games by staging a variety of splendid performances, and the Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (GAGOC) took this chance to cordially invite friends from around Asia and around the world to Guangzhou to witness the Games live.
Officiating guests included Liu Peng, Minister of the General Administration of Sport of China and Presidents of GAGOC and the Guangzhou Asian Para Games Organising Committee (GAPGOC), Huang Huahua, Deputy Party Secretary of the Guangdong CPC Provincial Committee Governor of Guangdong Province and Executive President of GAGOC, Huang Yunlong, Chairman of Guangdong Provincial Committee of CPPCC and Vice Presidents of GAGOC and GAPGOC, Xinxian, Vice Chairman and President of China Disabled Persons' Federation and Executive President of GAPGOC, and Timothy Tsun Ting Fok, Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia.
Also in attendance were officials from Guangdong Province , Guangzhou Municipality , GAGOC and GAPGOC
