2nd World Press Briefing ends with fruitful results

Ren Tianhua, Deputy Director of the Broadcasting & Media Services Department of the Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (GAGOC), attended a press conference in Guangzhou on Monday (July 26) and briefed the media about the 2nd World Press Briefing of the 16th Asian Games, which took place in Guangzhou from July 20 to 23.

A total of 324 delegates from 75 organisations participated in the briefing, including 48 delegates from 21 overseas organisations and 276 delegates from 54 domestic organisations. A number of accredited media of the Games took part, such as The Associated Press, Reuters, AFP, Getty Images, Xinhua News Agency, People's Daily, China Central Television (CCTV) and China Youth Daily. The delegates were impressed by GAGOC's excellent work in terms of media operations for the Games.

During the three-day briefing, the delegates visited the Main Media Centre and Media Village in the Asian Games Town as well as other venues, listened to the organisers' presentations on topics such as the Main Press Centre, photo services, new media, information technologies, customs clearance, accreditation, transport, catering and accommodation, and attended unilateral meetings to exchange ideas on Asian Games News Service (AGNS), Rate Card, freight transport, etc.

Mr Ren said the organisers will hold several meetings with media delegates from different parts of the world ahead of the Asiad and find solutions to improve media services of the Games.
