Guangzhou will begin its 100-day countdown to the 16th Asian Games on August 4 and the Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (GAGOC) prepares a grand evening gala to welcome the continent's largest sporting event with local residents in the city.
As introduced by Huang Nanbing, Deputy Director of Ceremonies & Cultural Events Department of GAGOC, the 100-day Countdown Ceremony will feature four parts and the whole ceremony will last for 100 minutes beginning from 7:30 pm of August 4; at 8 pm, a 2,000 chorus will sing "A moment like this" to celebrate 100 days to go for the Games, which will also be expected to bring the gala to a climax.
Members of the 2,000 chorus are selected from all walks of life, among which some are students, workers and retirees, and some are from local communities, armies and government offices. Some famous singers including Sun Nan, Mao Amin, Lin Junjie (Wayne Lim), Karen Mok, Leo Ku, Ashin Chen and Charlene Choi will join the chorus as well.
The centrepiece of the ceremony will be the unveiling of the Games' theme song and three songs "Reunion", "Sunshine again" and "Glorious presence" are now in the final round competing for singing glory at the Opening Ceremony.
CCTV 3 will feature the live broadcast of the 100-day Countdown Ceremony and stay tuned.
