Mayor Meets with Hitachi President

Guangzhou Mayor Wan Qingliang met with Hitachi President Takashi Kawamura on August 26. During the meeting, Mayor Wan expressed his hope that Hitachi and all other Fortune 500 companies will increase their investment in the Knowledge City project as a strategic focus.
Mayor Wan stated that Guangzhou is currently China's third largest one of China's top five central cities in terms of GDP, and that the city is striving to transform its mode of economic growth, boost its main comprehensive strengths, and advance its strategic emerging industries, high-end manufacturing industry, and advanced service industry. He added that Guangzhou has the right foundation and ample manpower and marketing resources to speed up the development of knowledge-based industries.
He also pledged to devote considerable resources into establish the Sino-Singapore Knowledge City into a world-class industrial park featuring top-notch talent and sophisticated knowledge-based industries and services. He expressed his hope that the world's leading multinationals will increase investment in the emerging Sino-Singapore Knowledge City.
Mr. Takashi Kawamura expressed his appreciation for Guangzhou's unfailing support for Hitachi's development. He said that he is confident that the Sino-Singapore Knowledge City will become a pioneer in knowledge creation not only for China but also for Asia as a whole. He also stated that Hitachi will take further steps to explore opportunities for expanding its cooperation with Guangzhou.
