The first section of the Guangzhou-Foshan Metro Line between Kuiqi and Xilang stations has been completed has been scheduled to open on November 3, according to Guangzhou's metro operator. The installation of the electrical power system for the section has been completed. In the initial stage, the service interval on the line will be set at approximately eight minutes and fare will be capped at six yuan.
The Guangzhou-Foshan Metro Line stretches 32.16 kilometers. The final section of the line between Xilang and Lijiao will become operational in 2013 and be connected to Metro Lines 1, 2, 3 and 8.
Under the existing plan, Foshan will have eight metro lines, five of which will be connected to Guangzhou's metro system. Stations on the Guangzhou-Foshan Metro Line are smaller than those in Guangzhou; they can accommodate four carriages with a total capacity of approximately 900 passengers.
