The APM (Automated People Mover) in Zhujiang New Town has been completed and is ready to open to the public next month. The APM is the first automated people transportation system in Chinese mainland and it shall cost 2 yuan/ time.
The 3.9-kilometer-long APM connects with Line 3 at Chigang Pagoda and Linhexi. With a total of 9 stops, it stops at major shopping malls, business centers and tourism attractions on Guangzhou's new central axis in Tianhe.
The APM is an automatic train requiring no driver. It is expected to serve 50,000 passengers per day. "The APM is designed to supplement the CBD transportation network," explains the designer, "it connects Haizhu District and Tianhe District and meets people's demand inside the CBD."
