"Guangzhou is prepared for the coming Asian Games," Wan Qingliang, Deputy Secretary of the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Mayor of Guangzhou and Vice President of the Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (GAGOC), said at a press conference organised by the State Council Information Office on Wednesday (October 13). Yang Shu'an, Vice Minister of the General Administration of Sport of China, Vice President of the Chinese Olympic Committee and Vice President of GAGOC, also attended the press conference.

Mr Wan updated reporters on the preparations for Guangzhou Asian Games in six areas, including venue construction, event preparation, significant activities, news and broadcasting services, city security and service and city environment.
Meanwhile, Mr Yang also introduced seven areas of progress of the Asian Games and Asian Para Games, including the sports events programme, sports entries, competition schedule, venue functions check, appointment of technical officials, sports management teams and test events.
