A ceremony was held on December 30 to mark the official designation of seven institutions as branches of the Huanghuagang Science and Technology Park. Among these institutions are the Guangzhou Vocational College of Technology and Guangdong Polytechnic College. At present, the park has 20 branches.
On the same day, the park celebrated its 10th anniversary. Over the past 10 years, the number of businesses hatched at the park has jumped 600 percent from 238 to 1,600, and the park's operating revenues have soared 700 percent from RMB 2.58 billion to RMB 20 billion.
In 2010, one enterprise at the park was designated as a national-class innovative enterprise, two as key national software developers, and two as the province's top 100 innovative enterprises.
About 66 percent of people working at the park are university-educated, and more than 3,000 people hold a master's or doctoral degree, and the number of returned overseas-educated personnel at the park accounts for 25 percent of the city's sum total.
