Write: Jaunie [2011-05-20]

Train "Harmony" passed through Zhongshan Station on December 25 during a test run.

The railway between Guangzhou and Zhuhai started trial operations on December 31, following a final inspection on December 20 and a safety assessment from December 21 to 25. The rail link between the two cities is expected to start formal operations in mid-January of 2011. Eighteen trains were involved in the test run on December 31.

The new railway stretches 142.2 kilometers, linking up five cities Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhongshan, Zhuhai, and Jiangmen. The trunk line between Guangzhou and Zhuhai extends 115.6 kilometers, while the feeder line between Xiaolan and Jiangmen stretches 26.6 kilometers. The actual setup of stations along the line is different from what was outlined in the project plan published in 2005.

The section of the railway between the South Guangzhou Station and the North Zhuhai Station and the entire length of the feeder line will be put into service.

Six CRH1A-250 trains had been delivered to the train operator and two more were delivered on December 31. All of the eight trains will be put into operations during the Lunar New Year holidays.
