The Baiyun Wanda Plaza opened for business on December 17. Leading brands based in the plaza, such as the Van's Department Store, Wal-Mart and IMAX Cinema also opened for business on the same day. The Van's Department Store, offering high-class commodities, is set to deliver new shopping experience to visitors to Baiyun New Town. Guangzhou's commerce and trade sector is currently undergoing modernization, internationalization, and a shift to the high end of the market, while Baiyun New Town is emerging as a major cluster of modern commercial, trade and cultural establishments, notably the Baiyun Wanda Plaza, which boasts a gross floor area of 390,000 square meters. The plaza was built by Wanda Commercial Property Co., Ltd. at a cost of RMB 5 billion. It comprises a commercial center, a five-star hotel, a business hotel, an outdoor pedestrianized street, and a number of Grade A office towers. It offers one-stop shopping, catering, retailing, cultural, sports and entertainment services. The plaza's premier store, the Van's Department Store, is positioned as a flagship in a metropolitan sub-center. With a gross floor area of 31,000 square meters, the store offers gold, jewelry, timepieces, cosmetics, leather products, premium men's and women's wear, girls' wear, premium underwear, sportswear and leisurewear. It also has a VIP service center and provides jewelry and timepiece servicing and clothes alteration services. Its car park offers 2,000 parking spaces. The store targets high-income consumers from Guangzhou and the Pearl River Delta Region.
