On the afternoon of Dec. 14th, Wan Qingliang, mayor of Guangzhou had a meeting with Fernando Chui Sai On, chief executive of Macao SAR. During the meeting, they conducted an exchange of views on increasing Guangzhou-Macao cooperation and the implementation of the Reform and Development Plan for the Pearl River Delta.
Mayor Wan pointed out that to strengthen Guangzhou-Macao cooperation for common development represented the aspiration of the governments and people of the two regions. According to the plan, a CEPA (Closer Economic Partnership Agreement) Demonstration zone will be built in Nansha District of Guangzhou.
Given its unique geographical location and abundant resources, Nansha District provided a wonderful platform for Guangzhou-Macao cooperation. The two governments will enhance their coordination and further their cooperation in services, environmental and ecological protection, creative industry and low-carbon economy.
Chui Sai On pointed out that Guangzhou had communicated to the world its splendor and charm by successfully hosting the 16th Asian Games. He expressed his confidence in Guangzhou's economic prospect and clarified his vision of stepping up Guangzhou-Macao cooperation under the framework of CEPA.
