On January 16, Guangzhou Mayor Wan Qingliang presided over the municipal standing meeting, discussing and approving the Economic and Social Development Situation of Guangzhou in 2010 and Development Thought for 2011, in which more than one hundred key construction projects for 2011 are involved.

In 2010, Guangzhou is said to have well exceeded the main goals set at the beginning of the year, completed all its tasks in the "Eleventh Five-year Plan", and become the third one-trillion GDP city in China after Shanghai and Beijing, such that Guangzhou's economic and social development ranking in China was raised to a higher level.

Sources from the meeting also said Guangzhou would make sure to put in place its "one target" and "three plans" approach to further development during the coming "Twelfth Five-year Plan" period.
