At the 12th Plenary Session of the Eleventh Municipal Party Committee in Zengcheng held on Jan. 12, the overall positioning of Zengcheng has been determined that it be referred to as the Guangzhou Eastern Comprehensive Gateway Functional Zone. During the period of the "12th Five-year Plan" it is intended that Zengcheng will be built up as Guangzhou Eastern Modern Industrial District and Technical Innovation Core Region, Ecological Livable City in the Pearl River Delta Region, Guangzhou Eastern Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center with Talented Persons, and Guangdong Demonstration Center of Balancing Urban and Rural Development; and will finally be built as a happy city with prosperous economy, superior location, beautiful environment, harmonious society, and much wealth.
