A 63-square-kilometer intelligent business district (IBD) will emerge around Huolu Mountain in the northeast of Tianhe District within five years, according to Liao Guosheng, Vice Magistrate of Tianhe District. The IBD will allow local residents to lead a technology-enriched life.
Tianhe District released the IBD plan on February 11 for public consultation. The plan envisions the development of Tianhe District into Guangzhou's showcase IBD, a pioneering trendy district, and a district for experiencing a well-off life. The planned IBD will feature low carbon, eco-friendliness, intelligence, high livability, and a pro-business environment; it is the first step towards building an intelligent, low-carbon, and happy city.
Construction of the IBD will kick off by the end of this year, a task force for the IBD construction will soon be formed, and a demonstration site for the IBD construction will be established as well. A service zone and one or two intelligent neighborhoods will be built over the next three years, and the IBD will take shape over the coming five years. Upon its completion, the IBD will house 1,000 high-end information service businesses with 100,000 employees, and be home to 300,000 residents.
According to Mr. Liao, the Tianhe Software Park will be given first priority in the first phase of the construction, and greater efforts will be made to encourage high-tech firms to set up their headquarters in the park and to build the park into a core base for emerging industries of strategic importance.
Three public bus routes will open in the Tianhe Software Park on February 16, and a greenway stretching more than 40 kilometers will be completed by the end of the year.
In addition to the Tianhe Software Park, four high-tech neighborhoods, including one neighborhood for high-level professionals and the Longdong, Xintang and Guangdan intelligent neighborhoods, will begin construction in three or five years. They are set to become the most advanced intelligent neighborhoods in Guangzhou.
