Write: Brighton [2011-05-20]
More old workshops in Haizhu District will be converted into facilities for the modern service industry, following the conversion of the premises of the former Guangzhou Textile Machinery Plant into the TIT Creative Industry Park.
On March 8, an environmental impact assessment report was published for the planned Guangzhou Joint Trading Park, one of the priority projects on Guangzhou's "three-olds" renovation program. The park, the first one of its kind, will be based on the premises of the former South China Sewing Machines Plant and the Wuyang Honda (Guangzhou) Company on West Xingang Road in Haizhu District, covering an area of approximately 150,000 square meters.

The Guangzhou Joint Trading Park will be located at 82 West Xingang Road, bounded by Lixin Street on the west. It will be based on the premises of the former South China Sewing Machines Plant and the Wuyang Honda (Guangzhou) Company. The project is part of Guangzhou's efforts to phase out industrial plants to make way for modern service businesses.

The conversion will cost an estimated RMB 150 million. The park will cover an area of 153,565 square meters and has a gross floor area of approximately 150,000 square meters, including office buildings of 77,000 square meters, commercial facilities of 49,700 square meters, supportive communal buildings of 14,800 square meters, accessory buildings of 5,769 square meters, and exhibition facilities of 1,728 square meters.

The park will have a plot ratio of 0.98, a total building density of 39.0%, a green rate of 25.2%, and 874 parking spaces on the ground and 199 underground. A comprehensive range of supportive facilities will be built for the park, including cafeterias, shopping establishments, car parks, public toilets, a youth activity center, a garbage collection center, a substation, and a fire fighting station.

The Guangzhou Joint Trading Park will be the first one of its kind in China. Unlike cramped and chaotic traditional wholesale markets, the park will consist of a range of specialized trading facilities and a number of banking, insurance and quality inspection service entities. It will combine traditional business modes with modern business concepts and electronic information technologies.
