The Guangzhou 2011 International Travel Fair was held from March 24th to 26th at the Jinhan Exhibition Centre. Co-organized by the Guangdong Tourism Bureau and the Guangzhou Tourism Bureau, the exhibition attracted more than 500 exhibitors. According to Mr. Zhu Li, director of the Guangzhou Tourism Bureau, over 200 foreign tourism organizations attended the fair to promote their countries as ideal destinations for Chinese holidaymakers.
Domestic tourism was also a highlight of the event with four major themes: tours along the Wuhan-Guangzhou High Speed Railway Line, Guangzhou's post-Asian Games attractions, world heritage tours, and "Red Road" tours.
Tourism is expected to grow dramatically in the coming years. Danxia Mountain in Shaoguan, in northern Guangdong was designated as a world heritage site last year, attracting a large number of domestic tourists ever since. What's more, 2011 is the 100-year anniversary of the Xinhai Revolution, an event certain to attract plenty of visitors to the city of Zhongshan.
