China Telecom will procure up to 60 million end-use products in 2011 and about two-thirds will be 3G devices, said company chairman Wang Xiaochu during his visit to Taiwan Province.

Besides looking to learn from and exchange ideas with Taiwan's service providers, China Telecom will also meet with end-use device makers that would support its CDMA2000 standard, according to industry sources, adding that Wang reportedly will meet with HTC, the Compal group, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and VIA Technologies.

The four main focuses of China Telecom's visit are: network construction; increase interactions with Taiwan-based service providers and evaluate future opportunities in value added services; cooperation between Taiwan and the economic zones on the west bank of the Taiwan Straits in cloud computing and call centers; and cooperation with Taiwan's research and development departments and industries.
