Siemens Touts Compact Design For New Sirius Industrial Controls

The Siemens line of Sirius modular industrial controls is getting a new name, and the company says, a new design that should allow it to be implemented in more installations thanks to a compact design.

Sirius Innovations industrial controls range from 10 hp to 30 hp and are now 98 percent more efficient than the outgoing model line. Company officials are also touting the 40 amp performance in a 45 mm footprint, as well as new IO-link communication modules included in the Sirius Innovations design.

Sirius Innovations is a feature-rich new series of power controls that offers benefits to panel builders and end users alike, noted Raj Batra, president of Siemens Industry, Inc. Industry Automation Division. With the introduction of this new line, Siemens is setting a new standard in terms of capability and reliability while helping customers stay flexible in design, efficient in their processes and connected to critical information.

Siemens is also attempting to target the semiconductor industry with a ring-lug version of the terminal connection. This, combined with the status and diagnostic data connections should enable access to more markets that require more automation in panel construction. There are also industry-standard communications capabilities that the 204,000 employee-strong division argue will improve sales, which were up to $47 billion last year.
