Siemens has introduced two new products this week, notably the Sitrans LR560 Microwave Radar Level Transmitter and the BW500/L Belt Scale Integrator, with the Sitrans LR560 being particularly significant to the automation industry.
Launched from its Atlanta subsidiary, the Sitrans LR560 is the first 78 GHz transmitter for solids level measurement, Siemens claims, and includes signal processing components as well as a lens-like antenna and continuous wave FM radar technology.
The construction is also sturdy, according to the company report, thanks to dust protection and temperature stability up to 200 degrees Celsius. It also comes with a programmer to limit opening the instrument. The range is roughly 100 meters and the beam is just four degrees.
The Sitrans LR560 sets the technological and innovative tone in the level transmitter market today, and its function and design will continue to help Siemens set the standard in the solids level measurement industry, says Todd Gardner, vice president, Siemens Sensors and Communications.
The device can also be programmed remotely using the Simatic PDM, as well as other industry standard protocols. The LR560 can also self-purge as necessary to clean itself as needed depending on the operation.
The BW500/L belt scale integrator can also be integrated with other automation components using Profibus DP, Allen Bradly RIO and DiviceNet. Siemens reports that it is able to work with high-speed belts, minimal spacing and various loading protocols.
