Taiwan-based LED companies posted revenues of NT$10.57 billion US$3.44 billion in June 2010, up 9.5% from NT$9.65 billion in May and 85.3% from a year earlier, according to research firm LEDinside. Revenues from LED chipmakers and packaging houses grew 8.1% and 10.6% on month, respectively, to account for NT$4.62 billion and NT$5.95 billion.
Though demand visibility for large-size LED BLUs backlight units will be extended through out the third quarter of 2010, orders for the segment are expected to dip in the fourth quarter with first quarters historically being the low season for LCD TVs. Demand from LED lighting is especially critical for Taiwan's LED companies at year's end.
